He makes his way out of the toilet to look for the exit, but he’s confronted by an armed gang of mobsters. Beth shrugs it off and dismisses the therapist’s concerns. Jaguar is dead. Beth laughs.Rick asks Beth for the serum, and he immediately turns back into a human after using it. The Agency Director receives a call from Rick, saying "Jaguar couldn't make it", with Rick remarking that he'll hunt down the Agency Director. At its best, Rick and Morty is surreal and self-aware. Dr. Wong uses this idea to start a discussion about why Rick turned himself into a pickle.Rick and Jaguar begin fighting, leading to them both becoming wounded and treating their injuries, leading to them both talking about their motives. Jaguar and Rick talk about their families, to which Jaguar ends by leaving. Dr. Wong notices how the use of science is a common form of communication for the family and discusses this. Dr. Wong gives Beth her card, and the family drives home.Rick apologizes for lying to Beth. Summer and Morty seem much more affected by what they’ve just been through, and Summer asks Beth if they might go back. It turns out that they’re running late for an appointment with a family counselor.
Dr. Wong helps a resistant Beth to realize that she admires Rick for not appearing to need other people. Rick then taunts the other rats that arrived and puts the dead rat's head on top of another contraption, creating a rat version of an exo-suit. “Pickle Rick” is brilliant.Back in family therapy, Beth, Summer, and Morty go around practicing “I” statements.
He says he didn’t want to come to the session because he doesn’t respect therapy. The sewer bars break open with the rats pouring in and Rick begins to kill every rat in sight with various small items, including screws and box-cutters.Rick turns himself into a pickle while the rest of the family goes to therapy. The cat knocks Rick over, pushing him outside of the garage and exposing Rick to the sun. Rick grudgingly states how dying in a pickle-form from the heat is the mega-genius equivalent of dying on the toilet. Pickle Rick finally enters the therapy session. The two tones appear to have balanced each other out and bring “Pickle Rick” to a JPM of 7.96 which is about what we can seem to safely expect from Rick and Morty season 3.
Jaguar is seen in a comic style flash ending.Morty is preparing himself for a school-advised therapy session in the bathroom when he hears Rick's voice. He fights off an army of rats, gleefully tearing them apart with giant razor arms, and launches himself out of the sewer and into the toilet of an office building.
As he is pondering his next move (to a sewer line), a sewer rat appears and tries to attack Rick. Rick and Jaguar repair their respective wounds and the fight resumes. Beth takes the syringe, leaving Rick alone on his workbench. The cockroach is killed by Rick with a bite to the head and he removes part of the cockroach's head. She flips out and delivers f-bombs to both Dr. Wong and the siblings.Rick staples on a pickle slice to treat his wound.The family is seen using simple sentences to describe what they currently want: Summer and Morty admit that Summer's sniffing enamel and Morty's desk wetting have nothing to do with the divorce: one is just for getting high and the other is a mere accident.The director looks up defeated.Rick has just killed the largest and toughest rat and enters the sewer pipe using rockets.
Morty starts to notice interesting features of the therapy room, particularly how there is a book displaying people eating feces. Dr. Wong tells Rick that the reason he wants to avoid therapy is because there is no danger in it for him — it is necessary work, but there is “no way to do it so wrong you might die.” The idea of therapy bores him.
